In and around Pune there are symbols and reminders of its rich and glorious history. Some of them are:

- Lonavala & Khandala - Twin hill Stations about an hour's drive from Pune.
- Panchgani & Mahabaleshwar - Also popular Hill Resorts.
- Asta Vinayak - Eight temples of Lord Ganesh around Pune.
- Bhimashankar - A hill top temple of Lord Shiva, one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India.
- Jejuri - A hill temple of Lord Khandoba, the diety of Maharashtra.
- Malshej Ghat - A bird sanctuary.
- Kamar Ali Darvesh Dargah - A place of pilgramage for both Hindus and Muslims.
- Ajanta Ellora Caves - World famous and near Aurangabad (about 240 kms from Pune).
